On A Personal Note

Every few weeks, customers from Julie receive an email from Julie Campoy with the subject line: On a personal note. I have read them all as they are inspiring, uplifting, and wise. Here is a sample.

On a personal note….

Lockdown until July? Or even August?

I met this news with a groan, disbelief, grief, disappointment ...then ...acceptance.

The situation actually reminds me of hearing that I’d have to do more rounds of chemo than expected...and my reaction then parallels this extension of time.  It’s one thing to manage through the first time constraints, only to be told that an extension will be necessary to protect life.

I don’t really want to keep wearing a mask now, just as I didn’t relish wearing my head turbans and having a “port” for 18 months during treatment.  I thought the whole cancer experience “inconvenient”--to my social life, my professional life, life in general.  And yet, I did what was necessary. I was a vigilant and diligent patient, trusting my team of doctors would guide me through the uncertainty ahead.**  And, truly, all was manageable and eye opening.  Life continued and life was altered in ways that I couldn't have imagined.

With the announcement of yet another Covid extension prevents our old lives from happening, I will again defer to the scientists, health professionals and local government to guide my decisions as a business owner, ensuring to the best of my ability that all employees and customers are safe while at Julienne. We will continue with the same safety procedures we’ve taken for the last 2 months even while expanding our/ your shopping spaces. We reconfigured the “traffic flow” to safely and prudently allow additional people in the Market--so that means a total of 3- 4 people in the store at any given time, up from 2.  The line in front moves quickly enough--our customers are innately considerate of others waiting in line.   Bottom line, we are NOT letting up on any of the safety standards that you’ve grown to expect from Julienne.  Shopping with us should be a peaceful, satisfying and safe experience--no anxiety or fear.

Your continued support of Julienne is meaningful on so many levels and it sustains us for the long haul ahead.  We promise to keep evolving and pivoting so things don’t become stale and boringly routine.  Here are some new daily food additions, based on what people are asking for:  chocolate chips! bread flour! Jack cheese!  Chocolate pudding, muffins, teacake, gluten free cookies, and refreshing fruit “aqua frescas” as it warms up outside.  Our new and daily changing  “Dinner for 4” is available Mon- Fri, and best to pre-order due to limited supplies.   Everyone should have a little something to look forward to when you venture out!

I believe that good deeds and innovation will indeed result from this Covid “inconvenience” in minor and significant ways, to be revealed individually, and in due time.  It’s the only way I can stay optimistic in accepting the new reality….one of my favorite chemo lessons. Who would have thought that cancer would provide such life lessons 10 years out?

When you see me on the Patio, please let me know what else Julienne can provide --so you don’t have to make a trip to a big, impersonal grocery store.  We are happy to be your one-stop shopping! Along those lines, let me know what Julienne food you are missing- especially for the warmer weather.   Let’s see if we can bring it back.

Sincere thanks for your continued patronage and spreading the word that we are still open for business.

Best Wishes,

Julie
